Harris County Domestic Violence Intervention Program

Are you struggling with words and actions which hurt those you love? At AVDA, not only do we provide services for domestic violence victims, but we also believe change is possible for those who are abusive. We are dedicated to serving our clients to the fullest extent with our Harris County domestic violence intervention program. Our domestic battering intervention program in Harris County helps participants to identify and stop abusive and controlling behavior through intervention, prevention, education, and rehabilitation.

AVDA’s Battering Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP) has four phases, all of which are available in both Spanish and English. Limited scholarships may be available based on income.

Initial Evaluation: $35
Orientation: $30
Group Session: $25/session minimum*

*Fee is based on a sliding scale of income

Domestic Violence Interventions in Harris County

AVDA’s Battering Intervention Prevention Program has important victim safety components in the program, as AVDA believes that it is important that victim safety is of the utmost importance throughout the program. Many of the sessions also focus on the impact of domestic violence on children, which has a long-lasting impact without intervention and an end to the abuse. Harris County program develops individualized plans for each participant, which may include referrals for substance abuse or mental health issues to ensure that you are able to achieve success in the BIPP program.

Domestic Violence Programs in Harris County

AVDA’s program in Harris County works collaboratively with participants’ referral sources (probation, court, parole, CPS) to provide an assessment based on ending violence and holding participants accountable for their violence. Voluntary participants are also welcome. The intervention program consists of the following:

  • Minimum of 18 weekly sessions (per state BIPP guidelines)
  • Sessions lasting two hours
  • Daytime, evening, and weekend sessions
  • Available in both English and Spanish
  • Men and women are seen separately (Spanish available only for men at this time)
  • Fees paid by money order or online at avda.org
