Texans Pro Bowl wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins, pledged $1,000 per touchdown he scores in October 2016 to Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse.

Hopkins wants to shine a light on the issue during October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness month.

“It’s a cause that my mother and I wanted to help,” Hopkins said. “We came up with a way, we thought, that would be cool. Bringing football in it, not just going out there. But challenging other people also to donate and help out, even if it’s $1.50. Anything to contribute to a great cause in ADVA.”

Preparing rookies for more than just the field

Thank you to the Houston Texans for inviting AVDA to lead 22 of this year’s rookies in a conversation about domestic violence prevention and intervention.

BIPP Group Facilitator Cliff Files, Director Chastidy Patterson, Texans’ Director of Player Development Sean Washington and Chief Executive Officer Sherri Kendall (above) helped faciliate the training, which was part of the team’s 39 seminars organized to prepare them for their new NFL lifestyle.AVDA Culture Map Media
