About Young Friends of AVDA
Young Friends of AVDA is a group of philanthropically inclined, 40 and below Houstonians serving as donors and volunteers committed to spreading AVDA’s mission to end the cycle of family violence. Since the founding of Young Friends of AVDA in 2019, we have aimed to continue to provide meaningful social, networking, education and volunteer events for the Young Friends. Events have included workouts, cooking classes, cocktail and cheese happy hours, virtual trivia nights, wrapping holidays gifts for clients’ child(ren) and select invitations to AVDA’s all agency events, such as the Home Safe Home Gala and End Abuse Awareness Breakfast. A Domestic Violence Symposium
Date: March 8, 2021
In this presentation, Olga Trujillo, a survivor of domestic violence and child abuse, will deconstruct her experience of violence and healing and pose a more holistic approach to services.

St. Patrick’s Day themed Virtual Trivia/Game Night
Date: March 10, 2021 at 6:30 PM
Feeling lucky? Well kick off the 2021 Young Friends of AVDA social calendar with this virtual game night, prizes and snacks to be included!

A Night at Minute Maid Park
Date: August 23 at 5:30 p.m.
Young Friends of AVDA members are invited to bring a guest and watch the Astros play Kansas City in the new club suite, Club 42. Food and drink included. Event tickets are available only for Young Friends members and their guests. Become a member today and get access to this event!

Honoring Texas Victims: Advocating to End Abuse
Date: October 5, 2021
In 2019, 185 men and women were killed as a result of a domestic violence incidents in Texas. This year, AVDA will honor these men and women by raising $185,000 in their memory. Please join our event to pay tribute to those victims who lost their lives as a result of domestic violence. In recognition for your support, AVDA will host a private event on October 5th at Potente, featuring the exceptional cuisine of Executive Chef Danny Trace. AVDA’s annual fundraiser to raise critical unrestricted funding towards AVDA’s mission to end abuse.

Party in the Park
Date: October 16, 2021
Join us for an afternoon of family friendly programming, with a magic show, DJ, activity booths and more entertainment!

Spirit of Giving
Date: November 10, 2021
Join us for a celebration to thank all of our members for their support and pay our gratitude forward by donating toys to our clients for their child(ren) to celebrate the holidays! There will be games, food, drink and a good time to be had by all!
